Dr. Lauren Grawert

Medical Director

Dr. Lauren Grawert is a double board-certified psychiatrist specializing in addiction psychiatry. She completed her undergraduate studies at Northwestern University and Clemson University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in both English and Spanish. She then attended medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina, where she also completed her general psychiatry residency in 2013 and a fellowship in addiction psychiatry in 2014.

From 2014 to 2023, Dr. Grawert served as Chief of Psychiatry and Addiction for Kaiser Permanente of the Mid-Atlantic. She currently serves as Chief Medical Officer at Aware Recovery Care, where she oversees integrative substance use disorder treatment programs spanning more than 12 states.

In addition to her leadership in clinical innovation and policy, Dr. Grawert is passionate about medical writing and addiction policy advocacy. She is the current secretary of the Virginia Society of Addiction Medicine (VASAM). Outside of work, she enjoys writing, spending time with her two children, taking long walks, and traveling with her husband.
